Free AI detector: what you get and where the limits are

A free detector is enough for an occasional check of a shorter text, but it usually comes with three limits: a short length cap, a single number without marked sentences and unclear terms for the text you paste. In DetekceGPT you can check a passage of up to 3,000 characters with one detector without signing in, five times per 30 days. A free account gives you five checks per 30 days, texts up to 300,000 characters, all seven detectors and a colour map of the text. The paid plan mainly adds volume, files and the full history — but you cannot buy accuracy; no AI text detector is a hundred percent accurate.

What to watch for with free tools

The first is the length limit. Many free tools take only a few hundred words, so you have to cut a longer paper into pieces and each piece comes out differently. A short passage also gives a less reliable result than a continuous chapter, and the numbers from individual pieces cannot simply be averaged.

The second is what happens to the text. A pasted paper, assessment or manuscript is often someone else's content, and with a free tool it is often the text itself that pays. Before you paste in something that is not yours, read the terms: whether the text is stored, for how long and whether models are trained on it.

What you get in DetekceGPT without paying

The demo on the website needs no sign-in. You paste a passage of 100 to 3,000 characters, one detector scores it and marks the sentences that read as machine-made. You get five demo checks per 30 days, and the same text gets the same result within 30 days, so pasting it again will not change the number.

A free account adds all seven detectors at once, a colour map of the text and texts up to 300,000 characters per check. You get five checks per 30 days and 300,000 characters in total, and the history keeps the last seven checks. Pasted texts are not used for training; they only serve to sharpen your own detection and humanisation.

When paying makes sense

The Pro plan makes sense when you check regularly: it gives you 200 checks per day, 4,000,000 characters per month, loading text from a file, checking several files at once and the full check history. For a teacher with a set of papers or a newsroom working with freelancers, it is the difference between a single check and a workflow. You will find the current price on the pricing page.

It does not buy accuracy, though. For an individual check, a free account shows the same seven detectors as the paid plan. The only thing that gets more precise with the Pro plan is the style deviation, because it is computed from the whole history instead of the last seven texts. For the money you get more checks and easier work with files, not certainty.

FAQ

Is the demo without signing in as accurate as a check with an account?

Not quite. The demo uses one detector and scores the pasted passage in full, including quotations and the bibliography. A check with an account uses all seven detectors and, before scoring, leaves out the parts the author did not write.

Why does the demo have a 3,000-character limit?

The demo is for trying the tool without an account, not for checking a whole paper. You can check a longer text with a free account, which takes up to 300,000 characters at once.

Do I have to enter a payment card for a free account?

No. You create a free account without paying; payment details are only entered when you move to a paid plan.

Try it on your own text

Paste a text or upload a file and look at the score and at the specific sentences that came out suspicious.
